Thomas Habib

Case Competition Branch Coordinator & Competition Founder
My name is Thomas Habib, and I am studying Bio-Medical Science at the University of Guelph. I’m currently in second year and I’m considering a minor in statistics! I’m currently an executive member of the STEM Student’s Guelph Support Association and my role is the Case Competition Branch Coordinator. This role involves being the primary contact for all inquiries regarding the Case Competition. It also involves proving support and feedback to all executive members of the Case Competition Branch and communicating information from the Branch to the Board of Directors. Outside of school I have many interests such as cars, travelling and technology.

Cassidy Laub

Case Competition Logistics Coordinator & Competition Founder
Hey! I’m Cassidy Laub. I’m in my third year of bio-medical science at the University of Guelph. In the SSGSA, I am the Logistics Coordinator of the Case Competition Branch. I collaborate with my branch to plan the SSGSA STEM Sustainability Case Competition. Specifically, I oversee planning related to competition rules, venues, team formation and competition logistics. I am thrilled to be a part of this branch because I am passionate about creating opportunities for students to learn outside of school. The case competition is a great way to provide something fun for the University of Guelph community to participate in. Beyond this I love spending my time with family and friends. I try to spend as much time outside as possible, usually hiking or golfing.

Mikaela Kassar

Case Competition Marketing Co-Chair & Competition Founder
Hello, my name is Mikaela Kassar! I am in my fourth year of undergrad, majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in English. I am a part of the Stem Students Guelph Support Association (SSGSA), and I specifically work within our case competition branch. Within the branch itself, I have the pleasure of assuming the role of a marketing co-chair, alongside my colleague Jessica. I am responsible for creating promotional materials, distributing advertisements, and organizing information sessions around campus. I enjoy reading, writing and working with others. I have a strong passion for learning; I would remain a student forever if I could! I also love to go on long runs and spend time with my friends and family. In the future, I am interested in pursuing research related to pharmacology or physiology.

Jessica Howe

Case Competition Marketing Co-Chair & Competition Founder
My name is Jessica Howe and I am in my fourth year of BioMedical Science. I am a member of the STEM Students Guelph Support Association, specifically the case competition branch. On this branch I act as a sub-communications coordinator where I am responsible for responding to all emails related to my branch, managing my branch’s social media accounts, creating advertisements and spreading the message of programs and events! My passions include helping others and learning new things! I have always enjoyed science from a young age, and all these things combined have led me to wanting to pursue a career in healthcare. I am optimistic that the healthcare field is ever-changing which will lead to more diversity and even stronger patient centred care. Outside of school I enjoy playing sports, being outdoors and hanging out with my friends. I am very excited to be a member of this club and can’t wait to see what will happen this upcoming year!

Diana May

Case Competition Fundraising and Development Chair & Competition Founder
My name is Diana May (she/her) and I am a fourth year Bio-Medical Science student with minor in Statistics. I hold the role of Case Competition Branch Fundraising and Development Chair on the SSGSA. Some of my duties include attending branch and total executive meetings, formulating a budget for our event and securing financial sponsors to support our competition. Outside of volunteering with the SSGSA, I am a teaching assistant at the University of Guelph in the Math & Stats Learning Centre. Aside from academics, I enjoy running, spending time with family and friends and going to the beach. I am hoping to pursue a career in dentistry following completion of my undergraduate degree.

Lily Skakavac

Case Competition Volunteer Coordinator & Competition Founder
Hi everyone, I’m Lily and I’m in my third year here, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. I work for the Case Competition branch of the Stem Students Guelph Support Association as the Volunteer Coordinator. Basically, I recruit and manage all of the volunteers we need before, during, and after the Case Competition in order to help it run as smoothly as possible. If the Case Competition is something that interests you, and you’d like to get involved as a volunteer, feel free to reach out either on our website or through our SSGSA email, and I’ll be happy to give you some more information! I joined the SSGSA because I wanted to meet like minded people who had the same goals in uniting University of Guelph students in order to better prepare us all for our futures. I also believe that people should always be striving to help other people, which is why I’m excited for our fundraising events this year, dedicated to helping local organizations and charities. Outside of this, I love horseback riding, swimming, and reading. I’ve also grown up on a farm so whenever I’m home, I love spending time with all our animals which includes three really cute horses and a pig that likes chewing bubble gum.
